Skate Canada: SCAPPVENTURE Hunt and Bonding for a Cause

Posted by Jake Mandel on Feb, 16, 2018

We’re in the midst of the 2018 Winter Olympics, and like millions of sports fans around the globe, we’re enjoying a spectacular show! Seriously, all of the competitors should be congratulated for reaching this pinnacle of effort and achievement.

At Teambonders, we have the pleasure to work with all sorts of companies, from SMEs to multinationals, and many other types of organizations such as nonprofit, NGOs and sports team. Sometimes though, an event is just a little bit different. Sometimes we get a chance to work with people that are larger than life.

In the last few years, we’ve had the privilege to work with the athletes on the National Team from Skate Canada and brought for them both a Bonding for a Cause Bicycle Building event and a custom digital SCAPPVENTURE Hunt.

It was an absolute joy to work with such a down to earth and dynamic group of people. For folks that spend a lot of time under the national microscope and are under so much pressure to perform, they were such a creative, delightful and fresh group to work with.

Skate Canada selected our Bonding for a Cause event which is a philanthropic bicycle building event mixed with a light physical but mostly low impact, fun Olympic-style team vs team challenge component. A SCAPPVENTURE Hunt, is a custom and exciting App-Enhanced scavenger hunt, using our patented Amazing AppVentures™ software. This app gives teams access to real-time GPS tracking, live and real-time scoreboard updates, audio and video clips and a range of features to keep the event exciting, dynamic and engaging. We had the chance to do both for them.

Our SCAPPVENTURE Hunt can be tailored to be played absolutely anywhere on the planet, so you can either challenge your team mates across state, province or county lines, playing in multiple cities concurrently! Once the event is finished your team will get a copy of all the photos and videos taken across the day, so you can have the perfect end to a fantastic team building and bonding day.

At the Skate Canada events, participants included Patrick Chan, Eric Radford, Meagan Duhamel, Kaetlyn Osmond, Gabrielle Daleman, Nam Nguyen, plus Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, who had the honour of carrying the Canadian flag into the Olympic opening ceremony at Pyeongchang 2018. Many of these athletes went on to win Gold in the Team Event, out shining all the other nations. Mr Moir and Miss Virtue out shone their rivals, the sibling team of Maia and Alex Shibutani, in a beautiful and elegant Gold Medal performance. Now, that’s world class teamwork!

Working with the athletes at Skate Canada has been fantastic experiences and we were incredibly impressed by their creativity and willingness to give 110%. Clearly, they carry a similar attitude across into both their personal and professional lives.

At Teambonders we love what we do and the memories we help create. If you are interested in holding a corporate or team building activity, we’d love to hear from you.
